“What you will”, this sentence to me has two meanings. One is “Follow your heart to do the things you want to do.”, another is “What will you do for the things in your life?”. It sounds the same, but not. I hope you notice the first sentence ended by a period and the second one with a question mark. (Laugh)

One kind of person, he or she is always clear with their life. They have thoughts already in mind. All they need to do is execute. One kind of person, he or she often feels confused about life. They don’t know what to do next or they don’t really know how to plan their future. They need to think hard about what they want to do in their life.

I think the “Will”, to a person is really an important thing. It makes “You” and also shows “who you are. Under your own “Will”, who would you like to be?

As an English learner, I never be a “Literary Crazy”. To be familiar with 《Twelfth Night: Or, What You Will》was because of my graduation drama performance. I was the director of the graduation drama and I still felt touched when I recalled the memories. It was really a wonderful experience with those talented people, my college classmates.

That’s also why I super know this story which was written by William Shakespeare. I have the book in my bookshelf but it’s the script version. This is one of the famous comedies by Shakespeare. The story is about a boy and girl twins who are separated by a Shipwreck. They thought each other had already died but it was not. They reunited in the end and they got funny stories before they met.

There are four main characters and some important supporting roles. My favorite character definitely is Feste, the clown. It seems the clown is a symbol of foolishness; however, I found these kinds of characters usually presented a deeper meaning. I don’t think they are fools, they just pretend they are.

I think they are wiser than others. As to be “what you will”, they do it well and they are the ones who really do what they want.

It reminds me of a song by James Blake, 《Say What You Will》.  In the end of the music video, it uses a quote from President Theodore Roosevelt.

“Comparison is a thief of joy.”

I think this quote really shows that happiness is from your heart, not from others’ thoughts. Sometimes people just care too much about what others’ saying or what others’ doing. In the end, you will realize, if you want to know yourself better, you should follow “You”, not “him” or “her” or “them”.

I will try my best to do “what  I will”. And, what you will?
